Daily Bible lessons and All School Chapel once a month to instill biblical principles for daily living.
Our English courses teach all parts of speech, sentence structure, mechanics, usage, writing skills, study reference skills, and listening and speaking skills Reading includes word recognition, comprehension, vocabulary, literature, study skills, silent and oral reading and composition. Spelling includes word lists, correct usage, and phonics application.
In our math classes we use Saxon Math.
3rd grade – Stressing science and social studies connections, Math 3 uses simulations and games to help your students understand and practice new concepts. Covers skip-counting; identifying ordinal positions; adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers; dividing by single-digit divisors; adding positive and negative numbers; adding and subtracting fractions; plus measurements, mass, function rules, coordinate graphs, angles, and lines of symmetry.
4th grade – This grade 4 curriculum covers: addition, place value, subtraction, multiplication, temperature, rounding, fractions of a dollar, adding and subtraction decimals, rate problems, division with two-digit answers, equivalent fractions, and more.
5th grade – Covers the following; Numbers and Operations, Dividing w/ decimals, fractions and mixed numbers and mental division, Powers, Square roots, Ratios and proportions, Estimation, Number Theory, Measurement, temperature and time, Geometry, Graphing, Probability and more.
In Third grade, students do a study of our American heritage through the lives of great people, and also a study of world geography. Fourth grade continues with a more in-depth study of New World events and a six week Maryland state history course. Fifth gradeintroduces the student to Old World history and geography.
Third grade explores the plant and animal worlds, as well as earth and space. Fourth grade continues the study on plants, animals, geology, astronomy, and matter. Firth grade is more in-depth on animal, energy, matter and earth and space studies. Health begins with basic health, safety, and manners and continues to physical fitness, personal hygiene, and interpersonal relationships. Fifth grade concludes elementary health with the study of the circulatory and digestive systems, along with nutritional and physical fitness.
